“The process of getting our mobile app up was easy and painless. All they needed was a high resolution copy of my logo. It was hassle free and completed on time. I really appreciated they didn't take my attention away from selling.” – Joe Dodd, All-Star Insurance

Texas Bill Supports Mobile Insurance Apps

How do I make a mobile app for my insurance agency?

Posted by on in Blog

This is a common question we are hearing from our mobile app customers these days. It seems everyone is finally understanding the need to communicate with their insurance customers through an agency branded mobile app. Thankfully, we have created a mobile delivery platform based on our existing tried and true insurance system, Horizon Platform.

Why is having your mobile insurance app created by PolicySpot so important? Many of the other mobile app developers build for many different industries. They have no idea what insurance agencies need to separate themselves in such a tough relationship business. Simply put...WE DO. We have been in the insurance business for over 15 years, building rating  and policy issuance systems for both personal and commercial lines.

Our mission is to bring the best tools possible to the retail insurance agent. We are dedicated to increasing your customer service by the use of our mobile insurance system. We are continuously developing new technology to help you sell and service more insurance easily. Selling more and servicing less, while maintaining you customer relationship is at the heart of all our technology. Having the latest and greatest is one thing, but having the most useful agency mobile app on the market is something entirely different.

Are you a wholesaler or carrier who needs a special implementation? We are here to help! Our mobile insurance platform can easily add mobile functionality to your existing insurance systems. Let your policyholders access the current data, without the long development time of making your own mobile application. Our custom mobile implementations bring your policyholders: Digital ID Cards, Mobile Claims, Certificate Management, and Payments which integrate with your accounting. Our extensive insurance background, and "Can Do" attitude make us the perfect choice to help you implement your mobile insurance strategy.

Texas is going to be the latest state to adopt using mobile insurance apps for proof of insurance for auto policies. According to the a bill is in the Texas legislature which will make it legal for policyholders to use their phone to display a digital Auto Insurance ID card when requested by an officer. This digital auto insurance ID card will most likely reside on a smartphone capable of displaying the card.

Many states already have a law allowing the presentation of digital proof of insurance. Only one state, NY, makes sure ID cards have a bar-code which will authenticate the auto id card digitally. Most states aren't as sophisticated as NY in their implementation of standardized auto insurance id cards. Simply showing a PDF of the auto id card digitally is enough. Most policies and auto id cards already are delivered in a pdf file, which is the industry standard for documents.

The benefits of going to a mobile insurance delivery platform are far reaching, and include most of the key players in the insurance transaction. Carriers save money by not having to print and mail copies of the cards. Agents can provide a level of self service through agency mobile apps to their clients, exposing an untapped channel into the customer relationship. Policyholders will get convenience and cheaper costs for insurance. Law enforcement officers can validate the insurance via a simple insurance verification app (We are currently developing).

The mobile trend is upon us, and insurance companies and agencies are creating mobile strategies. These strategies will all incorporate some type of mobile self service for the policyholder. Many already have mobile enabled websites, but are realizing that isn't enough. They are going to need a mobile insurance delivery platform, capable of delivering documents and taking payments.

Everywhere I hear people discussing how the industry needs to go mobile. I think it is important to remember the mobile, must support the original process.

"If insurance companies are looking for an opportunity area, it's how they can deliver a customer experience across multiple channels that's comparable to the retail experience," says Celia Ramos, insurance principal, Deloitte Consulting. "That's the experience claimants and policyholders are familiar with, especially younger generations."
